Women's Alliance

I first started skiing on K2 skis in 1986. Right away I loved them and couldn't believe how much more forgiving and fun they were compared to my racing skis. In 1988 I met Greg Stump, who was making the now cult ski film Blizzard of OZ with Hattrup, Schmidt and Plake, sponsored by K2. They asked me to join them and the following season I filmed License to Thrill as a K2 athlete. 1989 was also the year I started my business, Women's Ski Adventures. At the time most of the industry though I was crazy, but K2 believed in me, supported me and helped me turn my dream into reality. Women's Ski Adventures is now Skiwithkim.com , Coed Steep Skiing Camps, Heli-skiing, Women's Clinics, Family trips and guided skiing in Alaska and Chile.I've always been very interested in making skis specific to women's needs. I knew there was a big difference in the way we ski and believed women would have more fun on skis designed for them. I love being a part of the development process and feel so rewarded by the success K2 has had. I know in my heart that at K2 we make the best skis possible. They might not be for everyone but we are a team of 5 women who work really hard with the engineers at K2. We take hundreds of runs on skis that look exactly the same, and some times differ just slightly. But K2 listens to us and uses the information we provide. In the end we all know we've done the best job we can.Kim Reichhelm is a former member of the US Ski Team, a two-time NCAA All American for the University of Colorado and the only skier to win the US, World and South American Extreme Skiing Championships in one season.
