  • Wood Cores

    Wood Cores

At K2, we use a variety of woods in our cores to achieve the energy, rebound, and life you come to expect from a K2 ski. Fir and aspen, both solid and dense woods, are known for their inherent strength and durability. Paulownia is an eco-friendly, fast-growing renewable wood also acknowledged for its strength and lightweight characteristics. A softer wood, spruce is recognized for being forgiving and lightweight.
  • Triaxial Braiding

    Triaxial Braiding

Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. While flex and torsion vary depending on the wood, Triaxially braided skis share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy in both expert and entry level skis.
  • Directional Taper

    Directional Taper

Moderately wider tip than tail maximizes the skis performance in the forward direction. This means the ski makes a slightly different arc when skiing switch.
  • Cap Construction

    Cap Construction

Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance.

Comments about K2 Skis Bad Seed:

I was at Bretton Woods yesterday 2-25-12 had 6 inches of powder just floated above it. At the park they work fantastic light wight and the wood core absorbs a lot of recoil when you land. I think they work well through glades, powder, and moguls, other wise on groomers they are not very fast but they are also a twin so it does shorten the ski. I love these skis they work through any terrain you put it through. I am only 13 but these out of all the skis i used they give me what I want in a ski but they do not keep you on the ground that well if you want something to keep you on the ground and still go all mountain go with Atomic Ti or K2 all mountain
