All Terrain Rocker
ROCKER: Easy initiation, versatility, agility
CAMBER: Control, edge hold, rebound
All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.
-
Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected. -
Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance. -
Mod Monic
A Focused Mass-DampenerThe Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location. -
Hybritech Sidewalls
Hybritech is a unique blend of sidewall and cap constructions. The construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight characteristics and smooth turn initiation of cap construction. -
Integrated Hub Technology
Titanal hubs are imbedded into the core of the ski for the most direct transmission of power. The system hubs are functionally wider with a 50mm footprint, which decreases the distance between the binding and the edge of the ski for added performance. -
Metal Laminate
Built with two sheets of lightweight Titanal running the length of the ski, metal-laminate skis are the highest performing and most complex construction available from K2. Built from the base up, a metal laminate construction consists of alternating layers of fiberglass and Titanal above and below the wood core. Metal-laminates provide dampened, accurate, unshakable performance ideal for expert-level skiers.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
Ok, my final installment on reviewing this skis. My first review was on typical Minnesota conditions, artificial hard pack with the most fun thing to do being moguls. The ski is great in those conditions. Now I finally got to test it out one full week in Las Leñas, with fresh powder snow falling over the first three days. This skis were simply amazing, awesome!. Absolutely great on powder, they returned the power extremely well to make skiing on fresh powder super easy. When the snow got "cardboard" like, the ski allowed from getting in and out really easy, it will break thru the crust without bending or getting stuck.
My biggest surprise got while skiing really tough cardboard, I expected that if overloading on ski over the other was going to cause over-steering and the typical fall on your back down... but it didn't! This ski will keep it's shape, cutting thru the crust even if putting a lot of weight on a single ski.
I got to test the ski out with speed also (not really possible on MN with runs too short). I peaked about 60-65mph+, and the skis were super stable. The only that got me to slow down, were my legs getting tired and my helmet trying to get loose because of the wind drag...
I got the feeling I got a ski to use for years now.

I used these for a week at Beaver Creek and then four days in Aspen. I then tried Aftershocks and a pair of mogul skis. After four runs I went back to the shop to reclaim the Rictors. They are simply the best skis I've ever used in twenty years. They carve well, float in powder, and have a nice pop when you are linking turns that launches you into the next turn with a smile on your face! I'm buying them so that I don't ever have to suffer thru a lesser pair of skis (like when I went to Keystone later in the year and the store didn't have them). Thank you K2 ski designers!

On a recent mid-March trip to Mammoth, I reluctantly left my Volkl Supersports at home and intended to try out a selection of what's new. The first I tried were a 174cm pair of Rictors and there was no way anyone was going to pry them away from me for the balance of my 5 days. In a range of conditions from early morning ice, afternoon slush. corduroy groomed, upper mountain chutes and 10 inches of fresh, these skis were nothing short of amazing. Don't be fooled by their bicep-tearing weight, they ski light, quick and stable through virtually anything.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
I used these skis on a trip to Salt Lake City Utah, unfortunately the days i used them were on groomers so I cant tell whether or not they ride well in the powder. However I rode these in on the groomers and was very disappointed. FIrst of all to describe my skiing type, I ski with performance style and carve my turns hard. at short radius turns these skis were great, they held the edge properly and gave a light pop sensation. very fun for short turns. my problem with the skis are with the medium to large turns where i edge much more. first of all you immediately get the feeling that these skis do not want to follow this turn shape. as you finish the turn the skis ressist more and more and begin to chatter a lot. i found that the skis had a very small sweet spot, once you hit it thought the ride was golden and amazing. the problem is when you miss it (anything but short radius turns... oh btw, i forgot to mention that these skis tend to encourage leaning back more ....) your in big trouble. I can go on and on about these skis but the bottom line is that if your the skiier who makes short turns and is willing to just let himself go and have his skis do the work, then these skis are perfect. i forgot to mention that the skiis work great when you relax a bit more and just let them go. however, if you seek versatility in ski styles, radii... then keep looking. also i never tried them in moguls but there pretty soft so id imagine great things from them.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
I rented these as a demo after being told by a family member how much they loved their new K2s with the rocker technology. I have to say that everything I was told was true. Loved these skis after the first run and it just got better the longer the day went. From groomed to bumps to tree runs the skis just felt great.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
The Rictor was amazing it could hold the turn at 50mph with very little side slip the g forces where awesome. During the day the ski handle ice, corn snow and slush with power, quickest, and control that made the purchase worth while. I weigh in at 240# and height of 5'11" I was using the 174 lenght. The my legs felt sore for a few days after related to the fact that I could carve so and apply so much power to these ski. The down side to the ski is when lock in to a powerful turn don't expect to release with out fully unweight the ski. Thank you K2 for making such a great earth shaking ski

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
Demoed them on a March weekend at Hood. Fantastic. Floated over the six inches of new powder and then powered through the chop and hard pack that followed. A killer ski. Very easy to turn and steer. This is the perfect ski for Pacific NW skiing where it goes from powder to heavy to ice. Out skis the Heads and Volkls I have and they are great skis, both all mountain No. 1 picks in their day. The Volkl's so used the edges were ground off. The Head's got bent at Whistler in Blowhole and never recovered.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
I demo'd these skis last week in Aspen and experienced almost every condition within the week, from icy to fresh powder, and they were awesome. I haven't thought of buying skis for quite some time (too much of a pain to travel), but I am going to buy these. Great skis to own.

Comments about K2 Skis Rictor:
One the plus side these skis were excellent in the powder. Better float and glide allowed me to access powder stashes back in the trees well uphill of my old Recons and on a par with other specialized powder skis that I've been on. They were also very good in the chopped up powder. The effective edge felt longer anytime the ski was on edge contributing to overall stability. On the groomers and groomed runs with 3-4 inches of powder on top they were neither as fast speed-wise nor as quick edge to edge as the Recons. The tips didn't have the characteristic high-speed chatter of the Recons, but that was mostly due to the fact that these skis were unable to achieve anywhere near Recon speed. The tails don't provide the push Recon folks are used to which meant less air off various obstacles, but this also made them handle much better in the moguls. They take more effort to ski than their predecessors. I think they're closer to a 60/40 or even 70/30 off/on versus a 50/50 ski, though great in the moguls they just aren't very exciting anywhere else in bounds.
