Mod Monic
A Focused Mass-DampenerThe Monic is a solid zinc mass that works in conjunction with the Mod structure to focus mass-dampening at a targeted location. -
Cap Construction
Durable and lightweight “cap” skis are built by a sophisticated molding process that envelopes the core and internal materials with the top layer of the ski. Used throughout our ski line, cap constructions can be assembled with a variety of different cores. These variations, such as glass and/or metal materials, are the determining factors of the skis’ performance. -
Triaxial Braiding
Triaxial braiding consists of braiding fiberglass around a wood core to provide torsional rigidity for added control. Developed in 1988 by K2 engineers, the patented triaxial braiding machine interlocks strands of fiberglass around a milled wood core. While flex and torsion vary depending on the wood, Triaxially braided skis share the common traits of ease, forgiveness, responsiveness, and energy in both expert and entry level skis. -
Mod Technology
High-Performance Suspension System Mod functions by absorbing vibrations and impact loads along the entire ski, providing stronger edge-hold and a higher degree of power and control. Mod is a secondary core that flexes and moves on top of the primary core, allowing the overall ski flex to be unaffected.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
GREAT SKI... Ive been looking for a quick turning ski in the bumps and finally found it. great carving in the Vermont hard pack too,and very stable at moderate speed for those end of trail run offs. Been skiing for 40 years and weigh 170 lbs. They make me feel 35 again.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
43 years old and havent been on ski's regular since I was mid 20's. After renting similar skis in Colorado earlier this year I came across the Photons and was excited to give them a go. First 4 days in Tahoe and I came across 4 very different conditions, from sunny and groomed/packed powder to slushy to icy to excellent deep powder. The Photons handled all but the slush like a champ. Very easy to turn in all conditions and great edge the whole week. The only weakness I found was having to get back a bit on the ski in deep deep powder and a bit of drag in the slushy stuff. Not really the Ski's fault there though. I am very excited about the Photons!

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
I mainly ski the groomers. When the groomers turn to crud, ice, light powder Photons rise to the occasion and push me beyond my limits! Very happy and feel they have advanced my skiing this season! Glad I made the purchase and they were priced very reasonable for having rocker and great design!

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
I have used the Photon skies so far just 3 days in groomed pists here in Sweden and I am very satisfied how they react on my wishes. They do exactly what I want, both in hard and more fluffy conditions. I have been skiing for many years, mostly och rented skies, when I decided to buy these, and I am very pleased with them. They are taking my skiing to a higher level than before.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
I'm a 45 year old recreational skier. I was skiing on 2004 K2 Escape 5500 Unlimited skis. I haven't skied in 3 years and I wasn't really looking for new skis but I happened to see the Photon in a local ski shop and stopped to talk to a salesperson. The All Terain Rocker caught my attention and I decided to buy them. I skied them this week and not having skied in 3 years, it felt like I never stopped skiing. These skis are super responsive and they just go where you want them to go. Ski conditions are a mixed bag here in Western New York and these skis handled the loose powder just as effortlessly as they handled the packed powder and ice. Great ski at a great price. I loved my Escape 5500's but this is a much more solid ski. Don't even think twice, just buy them.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
My first skis, and so far, I'm pretty happy with them. Ive got four days on them so far, probably 40-50 runs and am incredibly pleased with how responsive they are. They are definitely taking some getting used to after spending my first 10 days on rentals, but its a good thing to have to get used to- speed and responsiveness. Overall, I'm happy with them, although I suspect I'll need to upgrade to the Rictor sooner rather than later.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
I used this ski for the first time today and came across all conditions. there was a little bit of powder up top, but mostly there was groomed trails and some skied off icy areas. this ski's ability to transition from one to the other is effortless. it is nimble enough to turn quick in and out of moguls but stable enough for some high speed runs. i felt it was best on the hard packed and groomed snow and ice. it was also easy to maneuver through the fluffy stuff. i would highly recommend it. great ski for the east coast where you can and will experience every condition possible.

Comments about K2 Skis Photon:
Recently purchased these ski's and have only tried them out at a ski centre as yet. Impressed with their ability to cope with different ski conditions, stable on ice, grip well, smooth and precise turning on groomed piste, stable through moguls....impressive stuff.
