All Terrain Rocker
ROCKER: Easy initiation, versatility, agility
CAMBER: Control, edge hold, rebound
All-Terrain Rocker features an elevated tip for variable and soft snow performance, as well as camber underfoot for power, energy, and edge-hold in firmer conditions.
Simply put, All-Terrain Rocker offers versatility and ease in all snow conditions.
-
Powder-Specific Tip Design
The widest point of a powder tip is 7cm back from the standard contact point. The design adds stability and predictability while skiing and is less likely to hook or grab in light crusts or variable conditions. -
Progressive Sidecut
Progressive sidecut is a combination of two different radii, or sidecuts, that enhance the versatility of wider-waist skis. Standard sidecut theory is based on using a single radius. This works well on narrower skis, but becomes overpowering on wider skis, especially in variable conditions. The use of progressive sidecut on wider-waist skis guarantees improved turn initiation and hard-snow performance. -
BIO Core Tech
For backcountry skiers conscious of their caloric and environmental output, our Adventure skis use a blended core of aspen, bamboo, and Paulownia, (a reforestation plantation tree similar to bamboo) that has consistent density, great strength-to-weight ratio, and fast-growth carbon-sequestration. The core is just one component of the ski, but the result is 15% weight savings over our traditional fir/aspen cores and a lessened footprint, reducing the impact of the ski on you and the winter world. -
Tip and Tail Holes
Holes in the tip and tail are not only the attachments points for K2 skins, but they also fit the functional needs of a backcountry skier including the ability to build a rescue sled or construct various ski anchors. The holes are equipped with removable plugs. -
Flat Tails
All Adventure skis come with flat tails, providing backcountry utility by allowing you to plunge the tails easily into firm snow. -
Skin Clip Arc
The tails of our Adventure skis are designed with a concave notch to ensure that the skin clip, regardless of size or skin brand, stays securely centered on the tail. -
Hybritech Construction
This wider-waisted construction combines the accuracy and power performance of sidewall underfoot with the lightweight and smooth turn initiation of cap construction. -
TNC Construction
Weight reduction is paramount in the BackSide model line. We've tooled a BackSide specific TNC Metal Laminate Construction that lessens weight wile providing an accurate and responsive feel.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
If you live in the West, this is your new everyday ski for all the right reasons: front rocker only, flat tail, traditional camber for bounce in the pow, 108 waist still lets you sink some, square sidewalls for sustained grip and two sheets of metal means nothing knocks it off course. [*] For a traditional stance-and-pressure skier, this might be the best crud ski ever made. Full disclosure: I asked for, and received, the Sidestash because after analyzing the 2010 market it had everything I was looking for. It delivered in spades. The only time it came up short was on super-deep uncut pow in snowbird in April when I could have used another cm or two underfoot, but that's what the Pon2oon is for.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
I purchased these skis early January 2011. I used them at Timberline, Mt.Hood Oregon. At Timberline you get all conditions. High altitude wind blown ice, corn, ice cap powder, fluff, Deep Powder, crud, and good groomed. I demo a lot of skis, I have skied Coomback, Hellbent, S7, Prophets, and Gotama.
I did not want to write a review until I skied all conditions. Mostly so that I could write what I did Not like about these skis. I have challenged these skis to everything I could throw at them, and I just keep smiling. These skis are very aggresive, I find myself diving into terain that suprises even me. They hold on ice. Easy to turn in steeps, confident in crud and a bliss in powder. I have nothing negative to say about these skis. I have talk to 3 other people that I seen with the Sidestash and they have only good things to say. The K2 skins are the best ever. I could not believe the steeps I was climbing with these skins, did not slip once.
It is now Mid April, I just got done skiing the best day of my life. 36 inches of 22 degree Champaign Powder, Back Country 7 miles from top to bottom. I could not stop laughing. These skis were like a dream.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
Tired of skiing my beloved Mantras I picked up a pair of SideStashes during Christmas week and have only been smiling since. With 66 days on them so far this season I have to rate this as the top ski I have owned. I knew it would be an awesome powder ski but these puppies hold a tight line in the groomed and are rock solid at speed. They are a solid ski for patrol work when you need to depend on your equipment along with just plain infusing me with a lot of postiive energy that you always hope for when you buy a new pair of boards. I use them 1/3 of the time for AT and have no concerns over the weight as they are so much lighter than skis I have had in previous years. It's been many years since I rode on K2's but I am definately a Happy Camper this season!!

These skis are very stable and are easy to turn. I ski them most days unless it is super hard snow conditons. They are light enough to be used when earning your turns.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
Had chance to ski the SideStash last April while Heli'ing w/ CMH. Skied corn cycle - hard snow first 2 runs, soft before lunch. These are soft-snow first skis, but they held up on the hard and surprised me - once I adjusted to putting a 108 under foot on edge. Enjoyed them over variable conditions then... Fast forward 10 months and have been on my own pair (that I paid for) for 3 months in the Wasatch. I matched the setup from before and put A-T/Alpine compatible binding on them. I've both skied with A-T boots and Alpine. Backcountry has been excellent - light enough and responsive with a softer boot. Integrated skins have worked great (once I got them). Alpine has been a blast. Mostly ski these on fresh days at Alta and they have not disappointed. They love to run but I can still ski steep, tight chutes. I can plow through the chop and even rip the soft bumps - though let's be real, these are made for the freshies!! The rocker lets me get away with a longer board, which I like without giving up too much responsiveness. I'm 5' 9"/ 175 and ski the 188. I've not regretted that a bit! I knew I sensed something special when I skied them last spring and I would definitely recommend this to anyone looking for a versatile soft-snow focused ski. They just might cause me to get rid of my tele gear, and these are coming with me on the ski fusion trip this spring at CMH.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
Rock solid ski, great for carving down wide off-piste.
I'm 6' and went with the 188cm option. Never come close to feeling they were too short, never had a problem with the nose dipping. if i bought them again though, i'd probably go down a length just to give a bit more manoverablity in the narrows.
The stiffness removes any problems the rocker might cause when blasting them in resort.
Quite heavy but OK for a day's touring; gives confidence on the down run at the end, especially with a solid Marker Duke.

Comments about K2 Skis SideStash:
I use this as my lift serve powder ski and as my deep snow backcountry ski. This is my first tip rockered ski- I only wish I had converted sooner. Great for ripping from lift to lift, can carve on the hard, and has just enough extra lift in the deep. I like the feel of the damp metal infused top sheet. Adds a little weight, but the ride is sweet.
